June Elizabeth Leverette was born on June 4, 1945 in Macon, Georgia, to James & Bessie Austin. The youngest of two children, her brother Jim married one of June's best high school friends, Carolyn. A sweet friendship became family. She met her husband, Jerry, in high school and they married at her parent's home, on September 5, 1965. They spent the next 55 years loyally and tenderly loving each other, until her passing on August 11, 2020.June attended Mercer University as well as Georgia State University, where she graduated in 1967 with a BA in history and political science. She chose to stay home full-time and lovingly raise her children, Paige and Corey. At the age of six, June committed her life to Jesus Christ. She followed Jesus faithfully from that day forward. She discipled and mentored countless others to do the same. Truly a lover of the scripture and the power of His word, she was a true hero of the faith. June and Jerry hosted small groups in their home, counseled young married couples, helped start and plant a church outside of Atlanta, she led countless bible studies, and she prayed over and encouraged many more. She exemplified the fruit of the Holy Spirit and studied the word daily. She clung to hope in the darkest of times, burying both her father and her son-in-law, Gregg, within the same year. She cared for her precious aging mother, in her own home, for many years with selfless grace and overwhelming kindness.June loved her children and was profoundly proud of them; Paige, a registered nurse and photographer, and Corey, a consultant and entrepreneur. She loved her son-in-law, Dan and daughter-in-law, Cindy unconditionally, as if they were her own children. She adored her four granddaughters and eleven grand-nieces & nephews.Near the end of her life, June loved studying the names of God and listening to worship music. Jehovah shalom was with her indeed, when she peacefully took her last breath, in her own home, that summer morning. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Leverette of Lilburn, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, JR Austin and his wife Carolyn of Kingsport, Tennessee; son, Corey Leverette and daughter-in-law, Cindy of Tucker, Georgia; daughter, Paige Knudsen and son-in-law, Dan of Lilburn, Georgia; sister and brothers-in-law, Pam and Tom Gay of Byron, Georgia, and Jeff Leverette of Byron, Georgia; granddaughters, Savannah and her husband, Trevor Hillis of San Francisco, California; Madison, Emily, and Caroline Knudsen of Lilburn, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Bessie Austin; and brothers & sisters-in-law, Mike Leverette, Janice Hill, Renee Leverette, and Jeannette Leverette.A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 23 at 5pm at Lilburn Alliance Church, 5915 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia.
