Hazel M. Watford

Hazel M. Watford (Oppo), age 92 of Loganville, GA, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020. Hazel was born in Wrightsville, GA. In her teenage years, she moved to Macon, GA where she graduated from the Business Training Institute of Macon, Ga and later worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base, during WWII. For over 30 years, Hazel worked as a school secretary in Fort Pierce, Florida and in the DeKalb County School System. She was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church. Hazel loved being with her family and friends, gardening, Jazzercise, writing, traveling, and sharing her stories about the "horse world".Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph W. Nichols; her second husband, Robert M. Watford; as well as her son, Keith R. Nichols; sisters, Nellie, Mildred, and Barbara; and brother, Robert Meeks; and parents, Willie Meeks and Grace Hartley Meeks. Hazel is survived by her son, Joe Nichols and his wife Bea; brother, Randal Meeks; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives.The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Hazel M. Watford will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will follow at Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur, GA.
