Sadie Bell Ruiz of Loganville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 28, 2011. She was born on September 23, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to Rose and Allen Smith. She was the baby of ten brothers and sisters. She moved to New York City, where she met, fell in love and married Hipolito Ruiz on July 21 , 1956 (there was noted discrepancies of who put the moves on who) – nine children later …it remains a guarded secret. Sadie gave her heart to the Lord at the tender age of 17 at the Union Missionary Alliance Church in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a faithful servant of the Lord all of her days. Her life touched many during the course of her missionary work alongside her husband. She was a loving mother and wife and devoted her life to raising her children, all while managing a 25-acre farm. She enjoyed her family and friends and never met a stranger. She had a special place in her heart for children and always had wisdom and encouragement for all that she met. Her heart was as big as her smile. Sadie started each day with morning devotion and prayer. She loved to play the organ (by ear), watch a good Braves baseball game, watch a rigorous boxing match with Dito, puzzle-making and bird-watching. She often spoke fondly of growing up with her family and surviving the depression. Her cherished memories of her dad, “Walking-and-Talking” (the 1st McDonalds on wheels) captivated us all. After much bragging about her roller skating finesse as a teen, she one day proved her abilities, as she outlapped us twice-over … criss-crossed feet, backwards and all. On September 28, 2011, God welcomed Sadie into his presence. She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband of 55 years, Hipolito Ruiz; two sons, Reginald Ruiz of Cleveland, Ohio; Americo Ruiz (Anita) of Jackson, Georgia; and seven daughters, Shirley Lyons (Robert) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; Rose Lyons of Columbus, Ohio; Arlene Aviles (Benjamin) of Stockbridge, Georgia; Lydia Lyons (Jonathan) of Loganville, Georgia; Joan Thai (Terry) of Loganville, Georgia; Reina Lisa Ruiz (Emory) of Loganville, Georgia; Lolita Dalton (John) of Rex, Georgia. Grandchildren (22), Antuane, Alexis, Tara, Elysia, Jason, Candace, Brittany, Angela, Krista, Karen, Benjamin, Nina, Angelique, Jonathan, Brianna, Bonita, Justin, Brandon Javier, Benjamin, Oriana, Severo, Emanuel. Great Grandchildren (15), Laila, Landon, Terrell, Ashley, Micah, Arielle, Anaya, Joshua, Tristine, Analeigh, Liana, Selena, Jevin, Jordan and Janai. Also survived by brother, Keith Smith of Chicago, IL; sister, Dorothy Jeanne Woolfolk of Cleveland, OH; and numerous other family members and friends. She preceded in death by her beloved parents: Allen and Rose Smith, brothers and sisters: Allen Smith, Jr., Ida Dorsey, Russell Smith, George Smith, Mildred Dorsey, Maggie Robinson and Rose Gainer. The Service Celebrating the Life of Sadie Bell Ruiz will be held Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 3:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Jonathan Lyons officiating.
