Peggy Porter

Peggy Futrell Porter of Lawrenceville, GA went home to be with her Lord on April 24, 2010, at the age of 76.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Jerry Porter; four daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon & Daoud Shakkour of Lawrenceville, GA, Susan & Larry Morgan of Germantown, TN, Heather & Ray Nicholson of Lilburn, GA, Amy & Ken Wilber of Dacula, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Cyndi Porter of Tequesta, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Gwen & Leo Campbell of Bartlett, TN.  She was adored by her family, especially her six grandchildren, Ian, Ansley, Kerry, Alexander, Madison, and Vivienne.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Bob Futrell.  Mrs. Porter was born on April 17, 1934, in Paragould, Arkansas to the late Bonnie Hoggard Futrell and Adelphus Futrell.  She received her BA from Harding University and her Masters Degree in Media Science from Georgia State University.  She served as a Missionary in Glasgow, Scotland for 7 years. She worked as the High School Media Specialist at Greater Atlanta Christian School for 26 years.  Mrs. Porter was a member of Campus Church of Christ in Norcross, GA.  She was known for her cooking and loved to spend time with her loving family, especially her six grandchildren.  The Service Celebrating the Life of Peggy Porter will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 11:30 A.M. at Campus Church of Christ with Jody Vickery, Senior Pastor officiating.  Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, GA.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Georgia AGAPE, Inc., 3094 Mercer University Dr., Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30341 (770-452-9995) in memory of Peggy Futrell Porter.  Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com.  Tom M.
