Laura Jean Stancil

Laura Jean Stancil, age 85 of Lawrenceville, GA passed away, Thursday, April 10, 2014. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Jake and Buner Vester Orr; daughter, Joan Stancil; son, Wayne Stancil; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Stancil, brothers, Charlie, Joseph, Ryman; sisters, Blanche Harris, Jakelyn Knect. She is survived by her loving husband Woodrow Stancil; sons, Tommy Stancil of Marietta, Steve Stancil and his wife Marjie of Lawrenceville, Robert Stancil of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Daniel Stancil and his wife Laura, David and his wife Mia, Deke and his wife Amy and granddaughter Nikki Day and her husband Jermy; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Sharon Orr; eight great grandchildren as well as many loving extended family and friends. Jean attended Sonny Hill School in Lawrenceville, GA. She spent most of her working days as a Nurses Aid at Button Gwinnett Hospital. Jean recently celebrated 68 years of marriage with her husband, Woodrow. She was a beautiful person who devoted her life to her family to whom she was a source of peace, patience, and kindness. Jean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Stancil will be held on Sunday, April 13th 2014 at 2:00 PM at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. Visitation will be Saturday, April 12th from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be expressed to the Wayne and Mary Ann Stancil Scholarship Fund, 3448 Sag Harbor Court, Buford, GA, 30519.
