SIMPSON – Jewell Willard Simpson went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 4, 2010 at the age of 91. She was a resident for the last 7 years at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home. She is survived by her three sons, Randolph D. Simpson, Sr. (wife Brenda L.) of Snellville, GA; Gary L. Simpson of Lawrenceville, GA; and Ronald E. Simpson, Sr. (wife Brenda R.) of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren, Rita Hemmings, Elaine Gauthier, Sharon Simpson, Ron Simpson, Jr., Ginger Capps, Teresa Steffens, and Debbie Landress; seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her parents, Huldah Missouri Tullis Willard and James Lynes Willard, her husband of 55 years, Ralph H. Simpson, daughter, Marie A. Simpson, grandson, Randy Simpson, Jr.; siblings, Bert Willard, Nola Blair, Odell Keheley, Montrilla Willard, Susie Mae Willard, and J.D. Willard. Jewell had a very varied and interesting life. During World War II she worked at the Bell Bomber Plant where she was a “Rosie the Riveter.” She also worked for the old Genesco Shoe Co. Her true passion of helping others was realized when she became a nurse’s aide at Doctors Hospital in Tucker and then as a nutritional aide with the Gwinnett County Extension Service. As a nutritional aide, she spent many hours visiting the homes of the elderly and poor where she would teach them how to prepare nutritious meals for themselves and their families. She was known for her exceptional cooking skills and could take a few items and turn them into a wonderful meal. She retired from Extension Service after many years of service. She was a member of Bethabra Baptist Church, Hoschton, GA and most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met. The Service Celebrating the Life of Jewell W. Simpson will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Rev. Ronnnie,
I am sorry to hear about your mother, but we both know that she is in a better place than we are. I know it is hard, but just remember that you will get to see her again one day. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love yall, Beverly
