I didn't know Jesse well--he was a year ahead of me in high school. But in the late 1980s I was working at the American University in Cairo. I was out in the Mahdi suburb one evening with a friend, and saw a group of Americans playing baseball. I recognized one of the guys--Jesse Craft--and called out to him. I couldn't believe that someone from my hometown was in Egypt! He was working for General Dynamics. We visited each other a few times, and then I guess he moved on, or perhaps I went back to the States; I can't recall. But the memory of that crossed my mind today, and I got curious about what he where he might be. I was so sorry to come across this--Jesse was a nice guy, and I'm sorry I didn't get to know him better. With warm regards, Bill Garvin

Hello Cindy: I hope you get this email.

You may not remember me. My name is Doneta Knippen Free. I used to work with Jesse at General Dynamics, Lima, Ohio around 1982. I did a google search on Jesse and I found this obituary. So sad.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Jesse was such a nice guy. I know he adored you because he spoke of you often. The funniest story Jesse ever told me was the one where him and his brother were always boxing each other so one year at Christmas his mother bought him and his brother both boxing gloves. Within minutes, one of them had their front tooth damaged. Not sure if it was knocked out or just chipped. So funny.

You did the calligraphy for my wedding in 1983. I still remember what a beautiful job you did.

I said a special prayer for Jesse, you and your family.

Have a good day!
