H. Nash

Hubert Thomas Nash 1920 - 2010   H. Thomas Nash, Gwinnett County native passed away on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Willie and Jewel Nash on September 17, 1920. He is survived by Ruby Deal, his wonderful and devoted wife of 69 years; daughter and son-in-law, Dolores & Curtis Murphy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy & Sherry Nash and Tim & Karen Nash; four granddaughters, Sandi Mitcham & husband Keith, Robin Lunsford & husband Rick, Joni Nash and Bonny McCulloch & husband Jeremiah; four great grandchildren, Austin & Kade Mitcham, Tatum Lunsford and Corlee McCulloch; sister, Edith Donald. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grace Phillips Nash, Colon Deal, Frances & Richard Rowe, Mildred & Newman Bennett, Royce & Galane Deal, Betty Deal, Willie Deal.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray and Kenneth Nash. Devoted to his church, Thomas held many leadership positions. He served as a deacon, superintendent and class teacher of Sunday school, a choir director, and a church clerk. He was also a charter member of Marantha Baptist Church. Thomas fulfilled his civic duty in other leadership positions as well.  In the early 50s, he and Ray began their entrepreneurship with Nash Brothers Trucking followed by Lawrenceville Appliance & Furniture Company. Their greatest success and legacy is Nash Chevrolet, founded in 1955 which is still serving Northeast Georgia today. The family will receive friends at Tommy Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville on Wednesday,  February 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m.  and Thursday, February 4th from 4 to 8 p.m.  The funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marantha Baptist Church, 3340 Five Forks Trickum Road, Lilburn, Georgia 30047. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of the Progressive and Intensive Care units at Emory Eastside Medical Center in Snellville.
