To the Family of Dan McKenzie:
Truly, you have my most heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Dan. I was hired by Union Camp in Franklin, VA, in 1964 as sec'y to Ernest Evans, mill manager, as a newcomer to the Franklin area, and a complete novice in the world of paper making, having only a background gained from a lawyer's office. Dan was a resident of our "Executive Row," and was an immeasurable help to me in the guidance of terms and names of various dept. heads. He was, without a doubt, one of the finest people I have ever known, an even-tempered, gentle man. I find it difficult to realize that was in the 50-years ago range!
I was very saddened to see his obituary in The Tidewater News, but it was wonderful to realize that he had such a long life span to share with his family. I am sure he has left behind him many sweet, fun, and loving memories to give you solace. You are very fortunate to have had such a fine example of a human being from which to learn.
I wish you well as you deal with life without him.
Sincerely,
DiAnne Bryant, Franklin, VA ... dhbryant@msn.com
