Brock “Mackey” Therrell, 70, of Snellville, Georgia, passed away January 8, 2013, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. He was born February 10, 1942, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Perry Brock Therrell and Hattie (Still) Therrell. On July 26, 1969, he married Karen Ann Bull, his loving wife of 43 years, in Ft. Eustis, Virginia. Brock is survived by his wife Karen, his children John (Lori) Therrell, Beth (Chris) Poplaski; 5 grandchildren; sister Ann (John) Watson; brother Charles (Kathy) Therrell. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother David. After receiving his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University, he entered the U.S. Army in 1964. Brock served in the Transportation Corps during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1977. He went on to receive a master’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University. Brock was employed with Ryder Truck Rental for most of his career until he went to work for himself in executive recruiting. Brock also shared his talents later in life as a college professor of psychology. Brock’s other activities included the Kiwanis Club, Methodist Men and Cancer Ministries. He was an avid tennis player, loved golf and was a huge fan of the Atlanta Falcons and Braves. Friends may call Saturday, January 19th at 10:00 am at Tom Wages Funeral Home, 120 Scenic Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. Services will be immediately following at 11:00.
