Mr. Tilghman - your mother was a lovely person with a very sweet spirit. I met her at New London when she first became a resident there. My husband's grandmother, Dora Lee Clower, was across the hall from her in B-5. She passed away in Jan of '07. I saw you and your wife visiting with your mom in the lobby where we also usually spent our visits. I visited your mom in her room too after you gave her the aquarium screen - she said "My son brought me that - he is a good son and I'm so proud of him." A few months later I wheeled her back to her room one day & I mentioned that you had brought her that and that day she didn't remember that you had given it to her. We had many similar experiences with our loved one. Some days her mind worked well and other days it didn't. It was hard and I know it was for you as well. But I know that sweet & gentle spirit she had must have been a comfort to you - I never observed her with an "attitude" about being there, even when she first came. We were blessed with the same with Mrs. Clower. Had your mom arrived earlier I'm sure the two of them would have been friends. They would have been wonderful room mates. By the time your mom arrived, Mrs. Clower had declined to the point where being social was no longer an option. Anyway, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed that sweet spirit of hers and offer you my sympathy.
