Alethia Hollis Thompson, age 61, of Loganville, GA entered into rest with her Heavenly Father Saturday, May 30, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Glyn R. Thompson, Jr. of Loganville, son, Joseph Dax Thompson of Loganville, daughter & son-in-law, Devanie & Dan Schay of Winder, GA and grandson, Jake Thompson Schay. Alethia was a gentle & loving wife, mother, & grandmother who will be deeply missed by all. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. To The Family, I want to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. I also want to share the comfort of John 5:28,29 where we are promised that those who have fallen asleep in death have the hope of receiving a "resurrection" back to life. Life on an earth restored to a beautiful paradise. Psalms 37:11 says, "The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." While we await that wonderful time please find comfort in these promises.

Alethia and I had shared emails a few years back. It is a shock that she has passed without my having any idea she had suffered from a stroke. She was a dear friend at school and I will never cease to think of her without the fond memories of such a wonderful human being.
I offer my prayers for her family and close friends.

Bo, I am so sorry I did not know in time to be with you at the service today. My heart is broken for you and the children. She will be truly missed.....and if there is anything I can do, please call me. The love of your life.....we are never promised a tomorrow. You will miss her at the most unusual times....Happy Memories for many years.

We are so sorry to hear about Alethia. We loved our high school and early married years as best friends with both Bo and Alethia. We had some great times together. She was a special person and I still have the cookbook she made me when we got married 41 years ago. It was great to talk to her several years ago and catch up but I regret we never got together. Every time I visit Atlanta and drive past Alethia's old house on LaVista, I remembered the progressive dinners that would either start or wind up at Alethia's house. I can still see Alethia wearing Rodney Montgomery's BHS jacket in ninth or tenth grade and always wearing one of the sweetest smiles I've ever seen.
