Addie Ruth was the embodiment of a pure hearted Christian lady. I will never forget when I was a young girl growing up in Lawrenceville and attending New Hope Christian Church, Addie Ruth was a frequent visitor at our home and always brought us a coconut cake, which was my dad's favorite type of cake. One day I happened to mention that I didn't like coconut cake, and from then on, she always brought over a chocolate pie. That was the kind of caring lady she was, and I will always remember her for her loving kindness. My deepest condolences go out to her family & please know that she was loved by all who knew her.
The last time I got to see Aunt Addie Ruth was when I drove Dad (her brother, Roy)for a visit in 2008. Since Mom and Dad had moved up to Tennessee with us, Roy and Addie Ruth had not seen each other in almost two years. Their delight in seeing each other that day was beautiful, as they held hands, and laughed, and recalled things they did as children. At leaving time, we all had tears in our eyes, because we sensed that it was probably the last time they would see each other. Aunt Addie Ruth put our thoughts to words when she said to Dad, "Roy, if I don't see you again here on Earth, I'll see you in heaven." Although weak, she stood and gave him a long hug.
Just as my Dad did, I loved sweet Aunt Addie Ruth. She sent me many cards of celebration and encouragment during my young life, and her love meant a lot to me.
She will be missed.
