January 26, 1918 - May 22, 2021

Woodford “Woody” Lee Hall, Sr, age 103 of Madison, GA, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert (WC) Hall; mother, Jenny Hall; brother, Harold Hall; and wife, Norma L Hall (1998). He is survived by his sons, Woodford (Woody) Lee Hall, Jr (Vickie) of Madison, Ga. and Rev. Alan D. Hall, (Kris) of Jefferson, Ga. grandchildren, Josh Hall, Kevi Parker (Patrick), Ashley Mundy (Mike) and Melanie Arreola (Abraham); great grandchildren, Anslea & Evan Hall, Trey & Presley Parker, Joshua, Mia, Evelyn and Samuel Arreola. Woody was a WWII veteran and served primarily on Tinian Island in the Pacific as a Naval Aerographer. Missions notably included reconnaissance of Iwo Jima and Japan. He actually briefed the crew of the Enola Gay before their historic flight. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He loved sports particularly baseball and golf and many pet dogs through the years. He pitched semi-pro baseball before the war and enjoyed working at Trophy Club of Appalachee Golf Course, Dacula in his retirement years. He worked in retail management with Shillitos Department Store, Cincinnati, OH and Belk Stores in Decatur GA. Later he worked in Shopping Center Management, managing South Dekalb Mall, Cumberland Mall, and Phipps Plaza in the Atlanta Area. While managing Cumberland, he and Norma met President Ronald Reagan and spent time with the president while campaigning in the Cobb County area. Woody was a wonderful caregiver to his beloved wife, Norma during her time of illness. She passed away in 1998 and their 49 years of marriage together were the highlight of his life. Following Norma’s death he lived with his son Alan and recently with his son Woody Jr. He enjoyed close relationships with his family and spent much time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a man blessed with a long life, a loving wife and family, service to his country, church and community- a great example of a life well lived.
