William Harold Pettway

William Harold Pettway, age 89 of Snellville, GA, passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 19, 2019.William was born on November 4, 1929 in East Point, GA to his parents, Lillie Mae & Charlie Pettway. He married his loving wife, Stella Pettway, on January 1, 1950 in Nogales, NM. In 1958, William earned his bachelor degree in Education at UGA. He became an english and history teacher, probation officer, and a retiree from Treasures for Your Home furniture store in Decatur, GA. William, a Korean War Veteran, served in the Air Force Strategic Air Command from 1948-1952. Over the years, he has lived in Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Kansas City, KS, and Detroit, MI. He was a member of Shiloh Christian Church. William was a world traveler and loved literature, Christianity, gospel music, and his family. He was also a regular at the Snellville Waffle House, known as “Mr. Bill”.William was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Pettway, Ann Thompson, Grace Brown, and George Pettway. He is survived by his wife, Stella Pettway of Snellville, GA; daughter, Debbie Jackson; grandson, Michael Pettway; granddaughter, Hope Adkins; great-granddaughters, Mikayla Pettway and Libby Pettway; sister, Ruby Hall; brother, Steve Pettway; and his beloved dog, Lola Star Izabella Gracie.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
