Reverend Wesley H. Sheffield, age 85 of Monroe, GA passed on to be with his Lord on November 15, 2017. His cause of death resulted from an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thrasher Sheffield; his mother, Alice May; his brother, John; his wife, Carolyn Jean; his two children, Michael and Patricia; his grandson, Austin Massey; and his great grandson, Jackson Lammey.He is survived by his daughters and son- in- laws, Sheron and Perry Lammey of Monroe, GA, Deborah and Donny Addington of Adairsville, GA and Bonnie and Cary Chester of Newnan, GA; his sister-in-law, Marie Preston of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Mandy and Matthew Ward of Issaquah, WA, Marc and Catlin Irvin of Atlanta, GA, Wesley and Kelley Lammey of Buford, GA, Christian and Erica Lammey of Monroe, GA, Rodney Lammey of Loganville, GA, Kim and Mike Crawford of Nicholson, GA, Matthew Addington of Adairsville, GA, and Maria and Johnny Johnson of Griffin, GA; along with 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew.Wesley was born on November 27, 1931 in Fulton County, GA and attended Southwest Dekalb High School in Decatur, GA. He married Carolyn Jean Preston at Moreland Avenue Baptist Church, in east Atlanta on February 22, 1953. They were married for 62 years.Wesley was a member of First Baptist Church in Snellville and enjoyed working in VBS counseling with children. He loved being a part of the Berachah Life Group Bible study, also. He was Asssociate Pastor of Tanglewood Baptist Church in Greenville, SC for a number of years and founded two churches and a Basic School while serving as a missionary with Baptist International Missions in Jamaica, WI. He was the Caribbean Director for Source of Light Missions in Freeport, Nassau, and Eleuthera, Bahamas. He was Minister of Evangelism at Glenhaven Baptist Church in Decatur, GA for three years and Associate Pastor at Galilean Baptist Church in Norcross, GA for two years. He also pastored churches in Milstead, Porterdale, and Conyers, GA.The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Wesley Sheffield will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tom Wages Funeral Home, 3705 Highway 78 West, Snellville, GA, with Rev. Jimmy Wilson from First Baptist Church of Loganville, GA officiating. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA.
