Warren Plauche, MD

February 2, 1933 - February 18, 2022

Warren C. Plauche, MD, age 89, peacefully passed away at his home in Snellville, Georgia on Friday, February 18, after fighting a long illness. Warren was born in 1933 in Houma, Louisiana to parents Louis and Effie Plauche. In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn. Upon graduating from Louisiana State University, he joined the Army and became an OB/GYN physician. After three years in the Army, he delivered many Gulf Coast babies while in private practice in Biloxi, Mississippi from 1964-1977. In 1996, Dr. Plauche retired from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. There he spent eleven years as professor and OB/GYN residency director, then ten years as Executive Associate Dean, first for Clinical Affairs and later Academic Affairs, ending with a year as Chief of Staff of Charity Hospital. Dr. Plauche enjoyed over 50 years of painting pictures, first in oils, then in watercolor, resulting in hundreds of completed works. He also wrote several books, loved playing classical guitar, and enjoyed traveling abroad. He also loved a good gin martini, with only one olive. Warren is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn, and children Patrice Plauche and her husband Jimmy Resor, William Plauche and his wife Nita Plauche, and Aimee Cantrell and her husband Ernest Cantrell. He was happy to be “Papa” to 8 grandchildren, Alex Musacchia and wife Renata Musacchia, Caroline M. Sayles and husband William T. Sayles, Jr., Rachel P. Lynch and husband Michael Lynch, Aimee Plauche, Mary Plauche and husband Geoffrey Richardson, Avery C. Neelam and husband Anudeep Neelam, Jonathan Cantrell, and Theresa Cantrell; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on March 19, 2022 at 12:15 PM at St. Marguerite de Youville Catholic Church, Lawrenceville, GA. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lawrenceville, GA.
