Valeska Waters, age 104 of Lilburn, GA passed into the presence of her Savior on Saturday, April 9, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Price Waters, Sr.; and son, William (Billy) Price Waters, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Miranda Douglass (Dave) and Patricia Waters; her grandchildren, Timothy Douglass (Heather), Joel Douglass (Jennifer), Philip Douglass, Cherith Douglass, Meredith Rosbach (Dan); and eight great grandchildren. Valeska grew up in Hull and Winder, Georgia and after marrying, settled in Lilburn, Georgia where she became a member of Killian Hill Baptist Church. Her most notable quality and joy was in serving others. She had the gift of hospitality and thrived on making all who entered her home feel welcome. She loved preparing meals when family and friends visited. In her retirement years she remained active. She and her husband loved growing vegetables and sold the produce to the community. But most importantly, she looked forward to her visits from grandchildren showering her love, wisdom and quality time on them which made a positive impact on their lives. Her love of children also led her into childcare, becoming “nanny” to other families, showing those same qualities to them, resulting in a lasting influence. She is especially remembered for her adventurous and fun-loving spirit even into her 90’s when she climbed Stone Mountain, rode a dog sled in Alaska, went parasailing, and rode in a Hot-Air balloon. She even tried to talk her family into letting her go sky diving! In her last years as her strength declined she enjoyed Braves baseball, listening to Gospel Music, good sermons and hearing the Bible read to her. She loved sitting on her deck and visits from family and friends. Her caregivers and others who knew her, commented on her sweet spirit and testimony and the blessing she was to them. Even to the end of her life, servant’s heart never diminished as she often asked, “what can I do to help?” She will be deeply missed! “Her children rise up and call her blessed;…a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:28a, 30b-31.
