Thomas (Tommy) Eugene Gann, age 74, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, April 23, 2021, due to the Covid-19 virus. He had been in the hospital for 94 days fighting the virus. Tommy was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 20, 1946. Tommy was pre-deceased by his parents, Tommy Lee and Frances Gann; and several siblings; father in law, Raleigh Franklin; and several brothers-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jackye Franklin Gann; sons, William Hollan (Benny) Hayes, Jay Gann; daughters, Ivy Brooke Hayes (Muhammad), Jan Gann; sisters, Margaret Bryce, Jeannie Spruell; mother-in-law, Christine Franklin; sisters-in-law, Judy Conner, and Lynn Gainey; and great-granddaughter which Tommy adored, Nevaeh McKibben; and precious great-grandson, Sebastian Shah; many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, many wonderful friends; his very best friends, Nancy and Derrick Wheeler, his church family at Mount Zion, and his bowling friends. Tommy retired from the Bell System with 30 years of service. He went to work at Snellville Bowling Center for 10 years, after his retirement. He became a stay-at-home Dad and raised Ivy, who was the light of his eyes. He is an Army Veteran, and he was proud to serve his country! Tommy was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for 42 years and loved his church dearly. He will be greatly missed by his loving church family. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Tommy Gann will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Snellville, GA. A private family burial will be held at Barber Cemetery, Mableton, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Jackye Gann or I Love My Church Building Fund at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1525 Scenic Highway, Snellville, GA. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve.
