Sharon Kay Perry, 78, beloved mother, passed peacefully to join those waiting in heaven on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones in Snellville, GA. Born, July 21, 1943 in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late, Dwight E. and Evelyn B. Smoot. Sharon is survived by her three sons, Kevin C. Perry (Victoria) of Westfield, IN, Peter C. Perry of Flowery Branch, GA and Gregory A. Perry (Katherine) of Dacula, GA; two daughters, Andrea D. Perry‐Scardina (John) of Canton, GA and Erica A. Clark (Dale) of Ahoskie, NC; nine grandchildren, Craig Brumbalough (Megan), Perry Brumbalough, Aaron Perry (Brittney), Kristofer Perry (Alyssa), Michael Perry (Mary), Katie Pickelsimer (Dakota), Hunter Clark (Kelsie), Alyssa Clark and Rebecca Perry; great‐grandchildren, Aiden, Georgia, Noah, Oliver, Everett and Colton; brother, Cary Smoot (Jackie) of Huntington, WV; and sisters, Marjorie Smoot of Barboursville, WV and Penny Smoot, Huntington, WV. She was a four‐time cancer survivor which taught her children strength and fortitude in challenges we face this side of heaven. Sharon is remembered for her strength, grace and a “kind willowy woman” (her husband, Hap’s, endearing term). She has been described as, “They just don’t make them like that anymore.” The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Tom W. Wages Funeral Home in Snellville, GA (3705 Highway 78 West). A committal service will be held at Hafer Funeral Home, 50 N. Pinch Road, Elkview Elk Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum/Chapel in Big Chimney, WV 25071 at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org. Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve.
