Ron Livingston of Lawrenceville, GA was Promoted To Glory on Tuesday July 21, 2020 at the age of 68. He battled cancer valiantly for 2 years before peacefully passing at home surrounded by family.Ron was a lifelong member of The Salvation Army. His earliest days were spent at the New Kensington, PA corps as a sixth generation Salvationist. There he discovered his love of music, mentored by Bandmaster Ken Luyk Sr., and made lifelong friends. In August of 1970, he met the love of his life, Sheila, at a teen church function. To celebrate their love of one another and the Christmas holiday, they married on Christmas Eve one year later. In 1972, Ron and Sheila began training to become ordained ministers for The Salvation Army. Their training took place at The College for Officer Training, in Suffern, NY. After 15 years, Ron and his wife retired from the ministry. Ron went on to become a CFRE in pursuit of his passion - raising money for non-profit organizations.Born with a natural talent for music, Ron became a gifted performer, always working to perfect his craft. He shared that gift with multitudes of people through teaching and performances. He began his musical journey at the age of 5, learning to play the cornet. He attended Carnegie Mellon for musical performance. He continued his love of music playing with many prestigious groups including The New York Staff Band and The Southern Territorial Band. He started many young people on their own musical journey, leading the youth band, and even leading a musical conservatory at the Lawrenceville Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah Livingston. He is survived by his devoted wife Sheila Livingston of 49 years. His four children, daughter Jennifer Walker, “son-in-love” Scott Walker, son Jason Livingston, and “daughter-in-love” Angela Livingston. His five grandchildren, Chip and Charlotte Walker, and Lucas, Allison and Benjamin Livingston, who will lovingly remember their “Boomba”. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Livingston, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.Ron’s spirit was infectious. Anyone who met him knew his boisterous laugh well. A wicked sense of humor and a touch of rebellion made for many good stories of hilarity and life lessons. Never meeting a stranger, he was always quick with a heartfelt word of encouragement and accepted everyone just as they were. He demonstrated the love of Christ in both word and deed, and his everyday ministry led countless souls to the Lord. Ron truly embodied what it was to be a Godly man.To know Ron was to know joy. A memorable moment in my life was meeting Ron 48 years ago as a session mate. No matter what life brought to either of us, I've been so blessed to call him (and Sheila) my friend. His witness, and joy of life, will remain with me always. There's more to come!

I met Ron at the New Kensington Corps. One time Ron and all the rest of us guys did a timbrel drill and even wore skirts and white tops, during our show, the D.C. surprised us with a visit. We had many laughs over that one for quite a while. Ron will be missed, he was loved by everyone who knew him. But we will see him again one day soon. May God Bless his Family Real Good.

I remember my mother, Mary Adamsky, speaking so fondly of Ron and his wife. She met them while working at the Sun drug in New Kensington.
I’m very sorry for your loss as I know she would be.
