Roland Lewis Crandall went to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 91 years of age. He was born on July 12, 1930, in Stockton, New York to Harold and Velna Crandall. He is survived by his wife of 72 ½ years Shirley M. Crandall. They lived their early married life in New York where he worked for the Jamestown newspaper. He moved to Alexandria, VA in 1957 to work for the Government Printing office and then on the U.,S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Organized Crime Investigation as an editor for the Congressional Record. He also lived many years in Springfield, Virginia. After retiring from there in 1981 he sold real estate for several years in Virginia and Georgia. Roland spent most of the last 20 years in Leesburg, Florida. In 2020, Roland and Shirley moved to an assisted living facility in Georgia to be closer to their family. Roland enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and made dollhouses for all of his grandchildren. Over the years, he volunteered with the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and was a Gideon. Roland was very active in his church and has passed down a legacy to his family of loving the Lord. He was a loving, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed but we know that he is rejoicing in Heaven and one day we will be reunited again. Roland is survived by his 3 children, Bonnie and Irv Golden, Debbie and Ken Hall, and Jim and Marcy Crandall; 15 grandchildren, Kevin and Darla Miller, Karen and Doug Fowler, Ashley and Bryan Reccord, Christy Elphick, Dustin and Hope Hall, Nick and Lyndsey Crandall, Sean and Maria Crandall and Jake and Sarah Crandall; 21 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Isaac Van Nus, Justin and Melody Miller, Natalie Fowler, Alex Fowler, Jaxon Reccord, Colton Reccord, Georgia Reccord, Kyle Elphick, Lily Kate Elphick, Carson Hall, Abby Hall, Tristan Hall, Bryson Hall, Maddy Hall, Eliza Crandall, Caleb Crandall, Dean Crandall, Zadie Crandall, and Eva Crandall; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Callie Van Nus and Brooks Van Nus. A graveside service honoring the life of Roland will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 2:00pm at Gwinnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 3rd from 11:00am – 12:00pm at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M.
