Laurie Denise Garet Steward

On Friday, October 16, 2020, Laurie Steward, loving wife, devoted mother, and proud MeMe, died at the age of 59. Laurie was born on October 15, 1961, in Gainesville, Florida, to Clayton and Elaine Garet. She received her bachelor's degree from East Carolina University in business administration in 1983. On April 19, 1986, she married Darrell Steward. Together they raised two children, Alexandra Davis and Austin Steward. She worked as a human resource manager for many years and took great pride in her work.Laurie loved her family deeply, enjoyed new adventures, and was passionate about helping others achieve their full potential. She was always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally.Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Clayton, and her husband, Darrell. She is survived by her mother, Elaine, two sisters, Christine and Mary, brother, Michael, two children, Alexandra and Austin, and her two grandchildren, J.Fred and Ellie Davis. She was looking forward to the birth of her third grandchild this December. The family hopes to have a memorial for Laurie and Darrell together next spring and will keep all those who loved them up to date as arrangements are made.
