Kenneth Monforton

August 29, 1948 - March 5, 2022

Kenneth James Monforton age 73 of Snellville, GA., passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Joseph Monforton and Shirley Irene Preville Monforton; a sister, Linda Sharpe; and a brother, Andrew J. Monforton both of Redford, Mich. Ken is survived by his wife, Nancy of 47 years, Snellville, Ga; son, Adam Monforton (Jacqueline) of Auburn, Ga.,; daughter, Sarah Monforton, Snellville, Ga.; three granddaughters, Kristianna, Aubree and Audrey, of Auburn, Ga.; sister, Denise DeKett (Clark) Redford, Mich.; brothers, Daniel Monforton (Susan), Farmington, Mich. and Philip Monforton (Jean), Livonia, Mich.; sister, Mary Bender (David), Livonia, Mich. and many nephews and nieces. Ken was born August 29, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan; he graduated from Thurston High School, in Redford, Michigan. After High School he attended Schoolcraft Community College where his interest was in theater and he performed in several college plays. Ken enlisted in the U. S. Airforce in 1969 and studied and became an Air Traffic Controller. He spent 3 years stationed in Duluth, Minnesota, with a one-year tour of duty in Thailand. He was honorably discharged in 1973. In 1974 Ken married Nancy Lee Hanson, from Superior, Wisconsin and continued his Air Traffic Control Profession with the U.S. government until 1981. 1984 they moved to Atlanta, Ga. so Ken could attend DeVry Institute to study computer programming. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1987. Worked for Harland check printing Co. for 11 years. In 1998 Ken went to work for Primerica, and retired from there in 2020. The service to celebrate the life of Kenneth James Monforton will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Bible Church, Lilburn, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until the service time 11:00 AM at the church.
