John Douglas “Johnny” Sobczak, age 57, of Tucker, Georgia passed to eternal life on Monday, July 8, 2019, after a year-long battle with cancer, with his family at his side.Johnny was born and raised in Export, PA and a graduate of Franklin Regional in 1981. He moved to Georgia in 1983 with his family. Johnny worked in construction as a framer, electrician, deck builder, and finisher for many years. Johnny was a hard worker and he longed to rejoin his extended family at UPS and Nesbitt Elementary School where he was currently employed. He was quiet, sweet, and funny. Johnny loved sports of all kinds (especially the Pittsburgh Steelers & Penguins) and the family spent many Sundays watching the Steelers at Johnny’s house. He liked automobiles, electronics, and another of his favorite hobbies was meteorology – he always knew the forecast. Johnny was kind to everyone, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Johnny is survived by his parents Alice and John Sobczak, three brothers: Jeff (wife Susan), Jay (wife Regina-deceased), and Jody (wife Debbie), three nieces: Allison, Lauren, Reagan Sobczak, two nephews: Jozef Sobczak and Lee Brock (wife Lakita), three grandnieces: Alyssa, Caroline, Ivyanne Brock and one grandnephew: Christian Brock. Johnny had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Johnny is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents Joseph and Louise Sobczak, and Paul and Elizabeth Gebrosky.Family and friends of Johnny will be gathering to pray and offer love and support at a funeral mass at St. Anna’s Catholic Church in Monroe, GA on Friday, July 19, 2019 @ 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Export, PA at a later date.In lieu of flowers, Johnny would want you to donate to your favorite charity.Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com.
