Johnny Lancaster

Johnny Lewis Lancaster, age 87 of Loganville, Georgia passed away Monday, July 29th, 2019. Johnny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat Lancaster. Johnny is survived by his children, Tony Lancaster of Loganville, Teri Jo Lancaster-Smith of Loganville, and Todd J. Lancaster of Woodbury Tennessee. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; dozens of nieces and nephews; and a host of beloved relatives.Johnny was a resident of Loganville, Georgia. He was born in Hoschton, Georgia but lived most of his life with his family in Dunwoody, Georgia. Johnny attended Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Georgia and served in the United States Army during the years of 1953 and 1954, and was stationed in Trieste, Italy. Johnny was a retiree of Jim Cowart Inc. Johnny was an active member of The 88th Infantry Division Association's Southeastern Chapter. Johnny was a member of both North Dekalb Christian Church, and Tucker Christian Church. Upon his death, he was a member of Corinth Christian Church in Loganville.Johnny enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a master gardener and grew some of the best tomatoes you've ever tasted. Through a shared love of bird-watching with his wife, he began the hobby of building birdhouses and feeders. A hobby that grew into various forms of wood-working. Johnny was an avid country and bluegrass music fan and was a walking encyclopedia of everything involved in the genres.The Celebration of Life Service for Johnny Lewis Lancaster will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, August 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
