John “Chief” Gilbert Neumann, age 76, of Loganville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019.John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Pickett. He is survived by his children, Johnny Ray Neumann of Monks Corner SC; Jacqueline Marie Neumann Tate (Greg) of Loganville, GA; Gid Michael Honsinger (Anete) of Las Vegas, NV; Lisa Honsinger Moretz (Taylor) of Loganville, GA; and Jorge Wayne Neumann (Jody) of Monks Corner, SC; his nine grandchildren, Nick, Brittanny, Megan, Anna, Blaine, Joshua, Shelby, Jacob and Zoe; and five great-grandchildren, Noel, Avery, Maxx, Meurah, and Clark; and many other close friends and family. John was born in Stillwater, Minnesota on July 3, 1942 to Phyllis Madge Dilts and Gilbert John Neumann. He is the oldest of 10 children. He graduated from Martin Hughes High School in Buhl, Minnesota in 1960. John served in the United States Navy from 1961-1980, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After the Navy, he worked for Atomic Energy of Canada and various other nuclear medical companies. John loved to shoot guns, read, surf the internet, and chat with anybody who would listen to stories of his glory days as a Chief in the Navy. He attended church in Bethlehem, Georgia at Restoration Church. John lived in Georgia with his wife Linda from 1980-2014, when they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada after her final treatment for breast cancer. After Linda’s passing in 2017, John moved back to Georgia to be with his daughters and grandchildren. He passed away suddenly due to complications from congestive heart failure and COPD. John will be honored with a Navy burial at sea. In lieu of flowers, the Buhl Honor Guard will accept donations in his memory. Their address is P.O. Box 452, Buhl, MN 55713.
