Jimmy D. Amburgey

Jim Amburgey – loving husband, father, and grandfather – passed away on October 9th, 2019. He was 81 years old. Jim is survived by his wife Carole, daughter Angela, son-in-law Paul, grandchildren Erin, Michael and Maddie, brother Bob and sisters Juanita and Catherine, and numerous other friends and relatives. Jim was born in Norton, Virginia to Richard and Mary Amburgey and grew up with seven brothers and sisters. He married Carole in 1956 and they later moved to Maryland, then Germany while he served in the military, and later Tennessee and finally Georgia. Jim started several businesses and retired in 1997. He enjoyed painting, watching football and baseball, travelling with his family, telling stories, befriending strangers over a cold beer, and watching birds from his living room.A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and a funeral service will take place on Sunday, October 13th at 2:00 pm, both at Tom Wages Funeral Service in Snellville, Georgia.
