Janet loved people, never knew a stranger, and touched many lives with her caring, positive, and fun-loving personality. She grabbed life by the horns and rode with enthusiasm. Janet was the long-time queen of her lively Red Hat chapter, The Sensuous Hens of Lawrenceville, Georgia. A dancer since age three, Janet loved tap dancing most recently with the Carol Walker dancers at Bethesda Senior Center. Janet traveled all over the world and loved every minute of it, whether it was riding elephants in Thailand, climbing mountains in Peru, or sailing down a river in China. Janet didn’t let grass grow under her feet. She delighted in attending Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, playing bridge, spending time with her friends, visiting the library, shopping, eating out, and participating in many other activities. For years, Janet ran the monthly pot luck & program at Bethesda Senior Center. She loved to read, swim, golf, garden, watch college football (Go Ohio State and UGA!), but most of all she loved and cherished her family and friends. Janet was born in Wayne, Michigan, and lived in Ohio and Illinois before settling in Georgia. She attended Ohio Northern University and University of the Americas in Mexico City. Janet loved teaching pre-school early in her career and surveying visitors while she worked at Stone Mountain Park later in life. Janet was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Wayne Glass, and her mother, Helen DeEtte Glass. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, John Wayne Kimple; daughter Dawn DeEtte Williamson and son-in-law Shawn DeWayne Williamson of Columbia, Illinois; son James Wayne Kimple of Galion, Ohio; grandchildren Madeline DeEtte Williamson, Grace Hope Williamson, and Samuel James Michael Kimple; sister Dyanne DeEtte Sidner (Skip) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brothers Charles Richard Glass (Marilyn) of Strongsville, Ohio and Jeffrey Jay Wayne Glass (Patricia) of Largo, Florida, and many extended family members and wonderful friends. A memorial service honoring the life of Janet will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00am at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 28th from 9:30am until the time of service at 11:00am. Condolences may be sent to or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M.
