James "Fred" Frederick Nantz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

The world lost a kind and loving soul on Friday, June 24, 2022. James Fredrick Nantz, was born in Spartanburg, SC on April 5, 1941 the son of Achsah (Richardson) and Charles Fredrick Nantz. Fred and his wife, Christine (McCallie) Nantz were married for twenty eight years. They were perfect companions who loved deeply, shared a great spirituality and whole-heartedly cared for each other, their family and friends. Fred was the very definition of a gentle giant, a man’s man that could fix literally anything, was willing to help on a moment’s notice, loved nothing more than to sit and talk about life with anyone and everyone, and was always willing to see the best in every person he met. Fred was a devoted big brother to Richard Nantz and he always looked forward to hunting together at Fountain Campground every year or telling stories of all the adventures they had together and with all their buddies. He loved all the time he spent with his son Chris Nantz, often reminiscing about the motorcycle events they attended. Fred didn’t feel like the typical ‘step-father’ to West (Polly) Hutchison and Brandon (Sandy) Hutchison, he supported, loved, and showed pride in all they have accomplished as if they were his own. He was an incredible grandfather to all six of his grandsons (Caden Nantz, Noah Hutchison, Nathan Hutchison, Jacob Hutchison, Joshua Hutchison and Ryan Hutchison) and granddaughter (Kristen Pierce). He formed many friendships over the 30 years he worked at Scientific Atlanta, in his neighborhood, and at his Church. We will miss him more than words can convey, but the example he set for how to live and treat others will be part of who we are for the rest of our lives. Fred’s last days were difficult, but he was at home with Christine and surrounded by family and friends. We can rejoice, along with Fred, in great confidence that he was well received, and freed from his earthly pain, when he heard his Savior welcome him in his comforting arms and proclaim “Well done my good and faithful servant, well done.” Please join his family in a celebration of life on July 17, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Nantz household at 184 Shadow Lake Dr SW, Lilburn GA 30047.
