James Larry McIntyre

September 30, 1934 - June 26, 2021

James “Larry” McIntyre, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 86 years old. Larry was born on September 30, 1934, to father, Floyd Richard McIntyre and mother, Leila Nicholson McIntyre. Larry, one of 6 children, preceded in death by his parents; brother, Anthony Reid; and wife, Pam McIntyre. He is survived by his siblings, Donna (Mac) Simmons, Phil (Joy) McIntyre, Pam (George) Little and Sheri McIntyre Black; children, Kiplan McIntyre Wood, Corey O’Neil McIntyre, Camron Reid McIntyre, Kayce McIntyre, Cade Nichols McIntyre, Ashley McIntyre Sullens, and stepson G. Brady Skalku; Larry was blessed and proud of his 19 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren. Larry grew up in Clarkesville, Georgia, graduated North Habersham High School in 1952, joined the U.S. Navy in 1953 and proudly served 4 years as Petty Officer, First Class. Larry then studied at The Southern Technical Institute and graduated in 1960 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating college, Larry joined the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Soils Engineer, retiring after 34 years of service. After retiring, Larry continued to work in the industry part-time, loved playing golf, hunting, and spending quality time with family, friends while serving in his church as a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Our sweet Grandpa will live on forever in our hearts, and the hearts of those he touched. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Larry McIntyre will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3950 Mink Livsey Road, Snellville, GA 30039. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA and on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the church. Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and if desired to bring and wear a mask.
