He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret Frances Lee Norton on September 9, 2010.He leaves to cherish his memory; son, Greg Norton and husband, John Grogan of Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughter, Sarah Norton Peters and her husband Justin and their daughter, Olivia all of Smyrna, GA; grandson, Nathan Norton and his wife Lindsay and their children, Isabelle, Shepherd and Thatcher of Columbus, GA; Harold’s beloved pet companion, “Teddy,” other relatives and friends. Mr. Norton was also predeceased by his parents and brother, Thomas Ray Norton.Mr. Norton was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 25, 1930 to William Arthur Norton and Bertha Jeanette Cole Norton. He graduated from West Fulton High School and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Georgia State University. Mr. Norton was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as an Accountant with the Swift Chemical Company (now known as Estech Fertilizing Company), retiring after 32 years of service. He enjoyed taking walks with Teddy, watching the Atlanta Braves, keeping up with the stock market and growing tomatoes. His greatest love in life was his family, especially his great grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was a gentle soul who was loved by everyone that came in contact with “Mr. Harold.” He will be deeply missed by his adoring family and neighbors in the Courtyard at Sugarloaf subdivision. Wages Snellville Chapel with grandson, Nathan Norton sharing memories of his grandfather. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville, Georgia with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 26th from 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home until the hour of the service.
