Frauline “Fran” P. Golson, age 80 of Stone Mountain, GA, received her wings and entered her forever home on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Fran was born July 31, 1937 in Chesterfield, SC but lived most of her life in the City of Atlanta.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth R. Golson, Sr., and beloved son, Kenneth R. Golson, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Golson, Cindy Gilley, Gloria and Ross Hughes and Anita and Paul Mercer; grandchildren, Màchelle and Doug Hensler, Diane and Clint Newton, Crystal Hughes, Melissa Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, Garett Mercer and Grant Mercer; as well as 7 great-grandchildren.Fran worked at Macy’s department store for 29 years. She was active in the community and was a member of Mountain Park First Baptist Church. She was an unconditionally devoted mother to her children and had a giving spirit to all she met. She possessed a special dedication and love for God. Fran was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.A Memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Frauline “Fran” Golson will be held September 30, 2017 beginning at 11:00 A.M., Mountain Park First Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, GA. I miss going to church with my nanny, I miss her so much I think about the time I made a rainbow fish drawing she loved it I think about coffee on the front porch 😢 I think about her chasing off a mean bully. I miss her cooking and how her pillow smelt the best. I miss u nanny I miss u ❤️
My dear Golson family, you all are like family to me and I cherish the memories of Fran and the many many fun times we had together as we all were growing up as kids and into adulthood. Fran was a dear woman of God and she loved everyone and her memory will always be embedded deep within the depths of my heart forever. I love all of you Golson family and my prayers and thoughts are always with you.

My condolences to the entire Golson family in this time. I had the privilege to meet Fran 2 years ago and immediately noticed her wit and Contagious smile, which was ever so kind at the same time. We shared a few lunches and always enjoyed our conversations. Last year she had went thru another cancer surgery and I was at her house. The Men's club had come from the Church and put a ramp out the back door for access. She wanted to show me this and I made the mistake in attempting to hold the door for her ! She smiled and said " Get out of the way " I was amazed how she took her walker and braced the back door and went out to her favorite picnic table and sat down. Godspeed to you Fran and the Lord has received one Top Notch New Angel !
May the memories of Fran fill your broken hearts with peace, love, joy, grace, and courage.
Fran was such a jewel! She and my mama were the best of friends and I know they are together again. Theresa, Cindy, Gloria and Anita my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I pray that the Lord wraps his arms around you all and helps you find peace. I love you guys!
Although I did not know Fran personally I have known one of her daughters Gloria for years and I know she must have been a great MOM that Gloria loved very much -
Gloria has told me stories about her but the one about bringing the horse home beats them all--I feel sure she's up in heaven now where all MOMS that raise 4 daughters should be--
