Eugene “Clyde” Tate, age 70, of Winder, Georgia died on Monday, September 6, 2021 at his home. He is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Cecilia Ann Tate; daughter, Kori Tate Rutledge and her two children, Christopher Kemp and Kylie Rutledge all of Cumming, GA; step-son, Myles Gilbert of Winder, GA; two brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Dianne Tate of Suwanee, GA and George & Jill Tate of Tick Ridge, AR; sister & brother-in-law, Darlene & Richard Watkins of Buford, GA; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a host of many friends and Clyde’s beloved pet companions, “The Cats.” Clyde was predeceased by his parents, James Arthur Tate, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Elrod Tate; step-son, SPC Kyle Gilbert; nephew, Bryan Tate; two sisters, Linda Diane Tate Kimsey and Christina Patricia Tate. Clyde was born on May 25, 1951. He was a 1968 graduate of North Gwinnett High School. Clyde owned and operated the Chevron Gas Station and Cambridge Gas Station in the Chamblee-Tucker area for years. He also was employed with Medspeed Courier Services serving Piedmont Hospital. Clyde loved playing golf and was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan. He never met a stranger and just loved interacting with people from all walks of life. He was an animal lover, especially enjoying the company of “The Cats.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Clyde will be deeply missed by his adoring family and devoted friends. Due to the uptick in the COVID-19 and Delta Variant regulations, anyone attending the visitation or the service are asked to bring a mask and wear it and to also social distance. A Memorial Service Honoring and Celebrating the Life of Clyde Tate will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. before the service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make donations to Gwinnett Humane Society or Barrow Humane Society.
