Erlinda was born on September 15, 1947 in Manila, Philippines to Melchor Velasquez and Filomena Deguzman. Her biological mother died while she was still young and her father later remarried Martina, her stepmother. She is the second oldest of five siblings. One sister, two half sisters and one half brother. She attended Manuel L. Quezon University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Human Resources. She later married and moved to the United States, settling in San Francisco, California. Where she started a family of 3 boys. She began working in the banking sector and reached senior level positions before moving to the telecom industry with AT&T Communications in 1977. After fourteen years AT&T brought her to Atlanta, Georgia. She retired from AT&T after 30 years of service in 2007. Erlinda taught children's ministry at Victory Church in Norcross. She was passionate about teaching the children about Christ and loved to sing praise and worship songs. She often volunteered to be involved with community outreach and events around Atlanta. She also enjoyed watching teleserye, filipino drama shows. Erlinda adored her grandchildren Gabriel and Lily, she enjoyed seeing them as they grew up. Everyone she met would say she is an encouraging individual, always giving and loving. Often opening her home to anyone in need. She is known as Auntie or Tita Linda by the younger generation. Erlinda's generous soul left such an impact that people will remember how she has touched and blessed many lives during her time on this earth. She will be missed and forever loved. Erlinda V Mendez is survived by Alfred (son), Albert (son), Alex (son), Gabriel (grandson), Lily (granddaughter), Jacob (step grandson), Charito (sister), Rogelio (brother), Lisha (sister-in-law), Kina (sister-in-law) and numerous in-laws, cousins and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father Melchor, mother Filomena, step-mother Martina, sister Lolit, sister Teresita. The funeral will be Saturday, March 16, 2024 held at Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Lawrenceville Chapel, 120 Scenic Hwy S, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Viewing at 11am with funeral service at 12pm with a reception to follow.
