Duane Thomas Jones Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Duane Thomas Jones of Snellville, GA passed away in the early hours of June 9, 2022, after a short, hard fought battle with cancer. Duane was born July 24, 1960 in Washington, D.C., to parents James Thomas “Tommy” Jones (1937-2017) and Mary Ann (Thornton) Jones (1939-2019). He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and close family friend Michael K. Bowman (1960-2012). Duane is survived by his wife Debra Kay (Beavers) Jones; children, Michael Duane (Tonya), Joseph Allen (Nicole), and Laura Elizabeth; and one brother, James Landon (Delia) of Springfield, VA. Duane is also survived by the four grandchildren he adored above all else, Kevin Michael, Cailyn Grace, Mason Brantley, and Carson Joseph. Duane was raised in Falls Church, VA, surrounded by a large, boisterous, and loving family. He met his wife of 41 years while working at Navy Federal Credit Union and was immediately welcomed into her wonderful family and gained another brother Roy Beavers (Crystal) and a cherished sister Karen Whitlock (Paul). Duane pursued a career in the IT field as a project manager with several large companies such as IBM, Northrop Grumman, and most recently Scientific Games. These positions allowed him the opportunity to travel all over the world, but he was never happier than at home with his wife, children, and grandchildren, sitting in his recliner cheering on the Washington Redskins. Duane will be sincerely missed by all and we know he is smiling down at us singing “Hail to the Redskins” and telling us to turn off the lights. The memorial mass will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lilburn, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA.
