Dorothy Ruth Jones (Dot)

Dorothy Ruth Jones (Dot), 90, of Loganville, Ga, passed away Saturday October 7, 2017. Dorothy was born in Sugar Hill, Ga to Harley and Ruth Poole. She graduated from Sugar Hill High School in 1945. She worked in the office at Sears Roebuck on Ponce de Leon Avenue, where she met her husband whom she married in 1948. For many years, she was a stay at home mom while she raised her two daughters in Decatur, Ga. She later drove a special needs bus for DeKalb County. She loved this job and made friends with many of the students and their families before she retired after 20 years of service. She was a long time member of Lucerne Baptist Church. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed their annual trips to the beach. She loved cake baking and was well known for her five flavor pound cake. For the last 5 years, she was a resident at Southern Plantation in Loganville, Ga.Dorothy is survived by her husband, Carl Allen Jones; daughters, Debbie and her husband Butch of Monroe and Donna and her husband Steve of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Erika Lambert, Rhett Davis, Abbie Collie and Andrew Stone; sisters, Gloria McDaniel and Jalaine Hill; sister in law, Gloria Chamlee; as well as many nieces and nephews.Services will be held at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home in Snellville, Ga, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
