Dorothy May Lentz Heavin (“Dottie”) December 7th, 1925 - June 23rd, 2021 (95 years)She was born in Monroe County, Bloomington, Indiana to George Roy and Josephine (Josie) Young Lentz. She married Wilbur Lee Heavin in 1948. She is preceded in death by her brothers Herschel Lentz, Donald Lentz, and sister Helen Louise Lentz Mosier.She is survived by a daughter, Susan Lee Heavin Chappell of Lilburn, Georgia and her husband Andrew William Chappell. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Emily (Tampa, FL), Lauren (Duluth, Georgia), and Timothy (Atlanta, Georgia). Also surviving is a great-grandson, Judah Daniel Norman (Duluth, Georgia).She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1943, then worked at Indiana University. She was later employed at the DOW Chemical Company as a communication specialist for 23 years. Dorothy was a member of Southport United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing piano and singing hymns. She also enjoyed tap dancing and ballroom dancing with her friends at Oasis and Continental Dance Club.She enjoyed family gatherings with her nieces and nephews, Bob and Sharon Lentz Schnier, Dick and Ginger Lentz, Larry and Donna Lentz Ferree, Greg and Kim Lentz Brinegar, Greg and Karen Lentz Elgar, and Jim Mosier. She shared many family memories with Stacie Lentz Woodward, Brian Lentz, Todd Lentz, Amy Schnier Schneider, Adam Schnier, Farra Ferree, Sean Ferree, Ashley Kavanaugh, Kari Ann Fuller, Brett Elgar, Braydon Elgar, and McKinzi Elgar.In appreciation of those who ministered to her needs while she lived in Georgia, a reception will be held at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lilburn, Georgia on Wednesday June 30th, 2021 from 2pm-4pm.A celebration of life will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church 6055 Old State Road 37 Bloomington, Indiana 47408 On July 3rd, 2021 at 11 o’clock AM.
