Cislyn A. "CeCe" Hextall

November 20, 1940 - March 3, 2021

Cislyn A. Russell Hextall was born on November 20, 1940 to Lucille Blair and Carlton Russell in a little town called Russells District, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She received her early education at Russells Elementary School. As a young lady, Russells district could not contain her, so Cissy moved to Kingston and started her professional career at IBM. In 1961, she married Handel Hextall and they had two children Celia and Lloyd. In 1968, she migrated to New York and quickly adjusted to life in the Big Apple. Cissy spent most of her career working at the New York Stock Exchange for Drexel Burham. Cissy enjoyed a good debate on just about any subject, especially when she was successful at getting you to agree with her points of view. You never had to guess where you stood with Cissy, as she was not one to hide her thoughts or emotions. Cissy was nice and kindhearted and she loved her family in her own special way. She was very generous and helped many of family members; most impressive was the financial support she provided for her mother as well as sponsoring her siblings and their families to the United States. Cissy loved to help people. In 2004, Cissy moved to Georgia where she became very passionate about The Salvation Army and volunteered countless hours working in the canteen and serving meals during various functions, as well as babysitting. She made many friends including Hazel Barrett whose friendship she cherished. On March 3, 2021, Cissy transitioned from her earthly life. She was predeceased by her parents, Carlton Russell and Lucille Blair; brother Vivian Blair, sisters Alice Blake, and Lurline Blake. She is survived by her daughter Celia Smith and son-in-law Rodney Smith of Loganville, GA; son, Lloyd Hextall of New York; four grandchildren, Danielle Hall of Georgia and her children, Tatiyana Martin and Noah Martin; Matthew Hall of Stone Mountain, GA and his children, Jordan Hall and Matthew Hall, Jr.; Amaya Smith of Loganville, GA and Dylan Gunter of New York; two sisters, Maria Hosang (George) of Jamaica and Laura Smith of Wellington, FL; two brothers, Joseph Russell of Homestead, FL and Erland Blake of West Palm Beach, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Cissy will be missed by her family and the many lives she touched during her lifetime, especially her dear friends at The Salvation Army. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of the families we serve and the friends who support them. We ask all family members attending the visitation and service to please bring and wear a mask. A Public Visitation Honoring the Life of Cissy Hextall will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation. The family has requested that memorial gifts be made to The Salvation Army, Lawrenceville Corp, 3455 Sugarloaf Pkwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30044 (404-522-9783). Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, "A Family Company," 120 Scenic Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 (770-963-2411) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
