Cindy Conners, age 72 of Snellville, GA passed away peacefully Friday, May 28th, 2021 to be with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Casey; her mother, Virginia Casey; and her daughter, Casey McKenzie. Cindy is survived by her husband of 41 years, David Conners Sr.; her children, Christy Anderson, (Brian) and David Conners Jr.; her grandchildren, Kelli McKenzie, Chase Hollis, and Summer Hollis; siblings, Tina Taylor, Kenny Taylor, and Mike Casey; as well as many nieces and nephews. Cindy was born in Auburn, NY on July 5th, 1948. She attended East Carolina University, where she earned her BA in Psychology. Cindy’s first love was dance. A trained ballet, jazz, and tap dancer, she taught dance for over 30 years across 6 states influencing countless children with her creativity, talent, and loving heart. Her dancing, choreography, and acting career took her to many places, working with numerous professional dance studios, school theatres, and community groups, which include Atlanta Dance Works, Lawrenceville YMCA Dance Program, Auburn Public Theater, Durham Dance Company, Rocky Mount Dance Company, Fredericksburg Dance Works, Seattle Dance Group and Children’s Story Time. Her professional path changed as she started a career in teaching, where she excelled in teaching special needs students at Alton C. Crews and Richards Middle Schools, serving for 10 years with Gwinnett County Public Schools. The center of Cindy’s life was her family; she was a loving wife, nurturing mother and a rock, guiding her family with unconditional love and positivity. Cindy was a longtime member of the Cannon United Methodist Church family for decades. Her love for the church was always a focal point and joy in her daily life. She volunteered many hours with Vacation Bible School, Family Promise, and Cookie Ministry. Cindy enjoyed dancing and the arts, travel, nature, bird watching, volunteering her time and love for others, and living a life in service of Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Cannon United Methodist Church, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Cindy wanted memorial donations to be made to Cannon United Methodist Church, 2424 Webb Gin House Road SW, Snellville, GA 30078, www.cannonchurch.org Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve.
