When we were little, we always wanted to go visit our Aunt Betty Anne. She was so much fun, had the best snacks and was always happy for us to visit! She was the sweetest! If we were at the lake house and we knew Uncle Roy and Aunt Betty Anne were coming up to their house that night, we would wait for hours on the dock for their boat to leave Hall’s Boat House. We wanted to wave to them and to make sure that they knew we were up too! We always had so much fun swimming at Aunt Betty Anne’s house at the lake and jumping out of her boathouse windows. My girls would beg my mom to take them over to “swim at Aunt Betty Anne’s!” Aunt Betty Anne had beautiful hair, wore interesting jewelry and bright lipstick. She always dressed in flowing, colorful clothes and she just “looked” like an artist. She would shop for special Christmas presents all year long and her gifts were the best! My sister and I would open her gifts on Christmas first. One year, she gave us necklaces with a beads from countries all over the world and another year a box of many different “fancy” soaps. She knew exactly what girls likes for presents! I’m so happy that I have two of her lovely paintings that I will treasure. I’ll make sure that they are passed on one day to my daughters -who I know will treasure them too. We ALL loved our “Aunt Betty Anne” and are grateful that we had her in our lives.
