Bessie Elizabeth (Beth) Thomas, age 80, passed away peacefully on 1/6/21. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Mealing Thomas Jr.; father, Guy Edward Lites; mother, Bessie Catherine Lites; as well as her brother, Guy Edward (Eddie) Lites III. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Lynn Ayers; and son, Weldon Kevin Thomas, and his wife Debra O’Brien Thomas; and two grandchildren, Lainey and Jack Thomas.Beth was born December 15, 1941 in Atlanta Georgia to Guy and Catherine (Kitty) Lites. Beth met her husband Weldon at Massey Business College in Atlanta and they married June 23, 1962. She fell in love with Weldon because of his humor and wit. Her first job was as a secretary at the FBI in Atlanta, which she found interesting and meaningful. Her second role was as Mother to her daughter Lynn, followed by her son Kevin. Beth loved her friends and her life was rich with strong relationships. Beth enjoyed playing the game of bridge and dominos with her family, and friends. As an Alabama Football fan she was most comfortable with a commanding 21 point lead. Beth was quick to give advice to Nick Saban from her recliner, always ending with a resounding “Roll-Tide”. Beth’s happy place was a place called Eden in Perdido Key FL where she had many years for fun in the sun. Beth also loved and adored her grandchildren Lainey and Jack. In their early years she cared for them and they have many stories of “what happens at Nana’s stays at Nana’s” shenanigans. Often, they would tell on Nana to their parents, but she loved them anyway.Family, friends and others whose lives Beth touched are invited to visit the family at Tom M Wages Funeral Home 3705 Hwy 78 West, Snellville, GA.
