He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Penny Buice Crook; son, Shawn Crook and daughter-in-law Amy Crook; grand-daughters, Baleigh and Emma Grace Crook of Bethlehem, GA.; son, Larry Jay Crook of Bethlehem, GA.; grand dogs, Duke and Harley Crook of Bethlehem, GA. He is proceeded in death by mother, Velma Darley Calabrese; father, Barney Monroe Crook; and his brother, Larry Crook. Tony was born in Atlanta, GA at Crawford Long Hospital on May 21, 1952 to Velma Darley and Barney Crook. He graduated from Gordon High School in 1970. He went to work for Flowers Bakeries in 1971, until he was drafted in the last draft of the Vietnam War in October of 1972. He returned home from the Army in 1973 honorably due to the death of his only brother. While in the Army he was trained as a vulcan crewman. When he returned from the army, he resumed his work at Flowers Bakeries. His work started as a Bread Route Salesman and throughout his 47 year career at Flowers and Mrs. Smiths, he held numerous senior leadership positions and retired in 2018 as President of Flowers Bakeries, Bakery Snacks Division. Tony grew up in the 50’s as the hot rod movement moved from California to the east coast. He had love and fascination for cars or anything with wheels. Prior to and after his retirement, he held numerous positions in car clubs throughout Georgia, such as the GRSA and the American Street Rodders. He had a clear passion for his family, cars and others. Tony was extremely outgoing and enthusiastic. He never met a stranger. In his last few years of life, he also enjoyed spending time with his wife and family on Lake Hartwell on their pontoon boat. The service to celebrate the life of Anthony "Tony" Dale Crook, will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the time of service 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
