Anthony Wayne King, age 65 of Lilburn, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, James (J.R.) King. He is survived by his sons, Michael King of Lilburn and Steven King of Decatur; mother, Catherine King of Decatur; brother, Bobby King (Kathy) of Texas; and two nieces, Krystal and Katie.Anthony was a loving father, son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing and traveling to the beach. He worked hard to provide for his family. He was generous to his family, friends, and co-workers. Tony will be greatly missed.The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Anthony Wayne King will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. I was probably Tony’s best friend in school - we grew up in the same neighborhood and I knew his dad, mom and brother. We double dated to the high school prom and even got in trouble together. We met at Columbia Elementary and our friendship continued through our time at UGA with Greco, Holland, Denison, etc. There was a large group of us who were close high school friends including Duke, Wooten, etc. To his sons, I don’t know if he ever mentioned these names but we meant the world to one another. While Tony and Nancy came to our wedding in North Carolina in 1981, we lost touch, as friends often do, as I moved around with my career. I’ll always have memories of Tony and me riding the bus at dawn to Towers High School and many, many more. To Tony’s family, I offer my deepest condolences on your loss. Your dad was an unforgettable friend and I feel like I’ve lost an important piece of my childhood who was a big part of my life growing up.

Tony was an exceptionally kind and caring person, and always had a smile on his face. He also had a good sense of humor. He would like to say "I'm not laughing AT you, I am laughing WITH you." I had the pleasure of meeting Tony while we were both in high school. He has always had a special place in my heart, as he was my first love. Later in life, we would occasionally run into each other. He never changed. Always the same, sweet, witty man. You will be missed by many of us. May you rest in peace.

My memories of Tony are from years ago when our kids were young. We belonged to the same pool and he was there every weekend with his boys. Our kids would play together. He always sat in lawn chair, not a lounge chair, so he was always tanner on the front side than the back side. Always great times at the pool every summer! Lost contact over the years but he was a sweet guy.
