Sara Jo Crook, beloved wife, Mama, Grandmama, Momma Jo, Great Grandma, passed away Monday evening, August 11, 2014. One of six children born to Milton Lee and Lucille Eley on July 18, 1918 in Barrow County, Georgia, she married her Bill a few weeks shy of her 17th birthday. Together they raised six children: Catherine, Dorothy, Linda, Frank, Harry and Virginia. Moving to Atlanta during WWII where Bill drove a street car, they bought a house on Iverson St. in 1944 where she lived for the next 70 years. With great joy they welcomed four sons-in-law to their family: Bill DeLay, Jim Smith, Jack Price, Robert Schofield and three daughters-in-law: Linda Almand, Carolyn Bryson and Linda Biggers. Over the years, 21 grandchildren, 37 great grand children, three great great grand children and 19 grand-in-laws and seven great grand-in-laws have been added! Sara Jo was devoted to her family and her good Lord, Jesus. A member of Candler Park Baptist Church for over 60 years she served faithfully in the nursery, the choir and preparing communion. She has been cared for in her home for the last six years by her dear Lucinda Ramdas and other fine caregivers. She loved her neighbors and was loved by them in return. She has missed her sweetheart, Bill Crook, for twenty years as he preceded her in death and now is rejoicing to be reunited with him and safe in the arms of her Savior. Generations call her blessed. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman.Her family grieves her absence but looks forward with joy to that great day when we will see her once more. "What a day, glorious day, that will be!"Her family will receive visitors Friday, August 15th from 4 until 7 at Tom Wages Funeral Home, Hwy. 78 in Snellville. Her life celebration will be Saturday, August 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Love Worship Center (formerly the location of Candler Park Baptist Church) 344 Candler Park Dr., Atlanta 30307.
