Leon Taylor, 73 of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away from a ten month battle with cancer at home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.Leon is survived by his wife Linda of 46 years; son Michael and daughter-in-law Sue Fournell; daughter Kathy and son-in-law Aaron Johnson; sister-in-law Helen Taylor; brother Mark and sister-in-law Shari Taylor; five loving grandchildren; one niece; three nephews; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Anne Taylor and brother Michael Taylor. Leon was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend.Leon was born in Streator Illinois. He was a veteran in the Vietnam War, and received a letter of commendations from the Small Missile Branch for his dedication and skill as a Training Instructor. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.Leon started his career, at AT&T in Norway, Illinois. He went on to have a very successful career in Management with AT&T, retiring after thirty two years. Leon loved people and since retiring, worked for a time at Ace Hardware and volunteered with the Snellville Lions Club. He served as a past President and was inducted into the Lions International Hall of Fame 2015.Visitation will be this Sunday, May 15 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Tom M. Funeral services for Leon will be Monday, May 16 at 11:00 AM at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 801 Tom Smith Road, Lilburn Georgia (770) 923-6633. Leon will be laid to rest directly following the funeral at the Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, Georgia (770) 972-3155.
