Leon Courtland Askew, Sr, age 77, of Dacula, GA passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Mr. Askew is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Joanne Askew; son & daughter in law, Leon C. & Norma Askew, Jr; daughters & sons in law, Dana and Joe Archer, Lori and Scott Powers, Shelley & Marwan Yasin; step daughters, Jennine & Peter Levy and Kristen Mauro; 13 grandchildren, Norma, Connor, Madison, Joshua, Cameron, Emma, Joey, Jacob, Nathan, Mia, Tristan, Willow, Kyrini; and nieces and nephews.Mr. Askew was a 1958 graduate of Ga. Tech where he received his BS in Industrial Engineering. While he was at Tech he was a member of The Ga. Tech Yellow Jacket’s Football team where he played right guard. After his service in the US Navy, Mr. Askew worked as an engineer for two years before being recruited by Prudential Insurance Company. Thus began a lifetime as a successful insurance salesman.The Funeral Service to Honor the Life of Leon Courtland Askew, Sr, will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages, Snellville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
