JoAnne Gary Blake

JoAnne Gary Blake, age 83 of Conyers, GA, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018. Mrs. Blake was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Blake; her brother Clark Gary; and sister, Mildred Gary Brock. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Blake McElroy and Penny Blake Ousley; her granddaughters, Michelle McElroy, Mallory McElroy, Brittany Denise Coleman; her sister, Mary Gary Walker; and several nieces and nephews.JoAnne was born in Carroll County, Georgia. She grew up and attended school in Bremen, Georgia, and then at Berry College. She married Glenn Blake in 1953, and worked as a secretary for several years in Atlanta, before settling in Decatur and becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. Mrs. Blake has lived in Conyers for over 40 years, and was active in the Lake Capri Garden Club and The Red Hat Society. She was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, and more recently at Heritage Hills Baptist Church in Conyers. JoAnne enjoyed gardening, traveling, “Red Hatting”, hostessing at the Governer’s Mansion, and spending time with her daughters and granddaughters.You will be missed, Nanny.The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of JoAnne Gary Blake will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA.
