Herbert A. Wachsman, age 84, of Lilburn, Georgia entered into rest on Saturday, March 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 54 years, Carole T. Wachsman on October 3, 2009. He is survived by 9 children; Linda Mauge (Lee) of Lawrenceville, GA, Carole Hofius (Bill) of Marietta, GA, Joseph Carl Wachsman of Chicago, IL, Herbert Michael Wachsman and Rachel Wachsman Bishop both of Loganville, GA, David Wachsman (Robin) of Lutz, FL, Jonathan “Jon” Wachsman (Tina) of Winder, GA, Ruth Kaderbek (Don) of Woodway, TX, Karl Wachsman (Jenny) of Monroe, GA; 18 grandchildren, Jesse (Ella), Christina (Patrick), Dawn, Maggie (Paul), Jonathan (Emily), Brian, Michele (Drew), Catherine, Ashley, Kurt, Amber, Joanna, Courtney, Austin, Eric, Samantha, Sarah and Jenna (Ian); 11 great grandchildren; sister, Loretta Ross of Ohio; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Herbert was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Marianne Smith and brother, Russell Wachsman.Herbert was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 29, 1932, to Loretta Catherine Weigler Wachsman and Herbert Andrew Wachsman. He graduated from St. Ignatius Catholic High School and attended John Carroll University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was a Police Officer in Parma, OH for a number of years. Herbert was a pioneer in the Federal Air Traffic Control System Command for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) working in Cleveland, OH, Washington, DC and Hampton, GA. His career spanned over 25 years beginning in the Control Center advancing to an Administrative Capacity involving standard operating procedures, research and development. When he retired, he went to work with his sons, David, Jon and Karl, at Grayson Automotive from 1995 to 2017. Herbert enjoyed camping, traveling and doing cross word puzzles. He was a faithful member at St. Stephen The Martyr Catholic Church. Herbert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by his adoring family but now he is with his beloved wife, Carole.The Funeral Mass Honoring the Life of Herbert A. Wachsman will held Friday, March 24, 2017, at 8:00 A.M. at St. Stephen The Martyr Catholic Church, 5373 Wydella Rd. SW, Lilburn, GA (770-381-7488) with Rev. Fr. Brian Lorei serving as the Celebrant. The Committal Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23rd from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A Rosary/Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. during the visitation.
