Hazel Picklesimer Etris was born on February 22, 1928 in Cedartown, GA and later moved to East Point, then to Lilburn when her first son was very young. Hazel met her husband, Marion (Ray) Etris, on a trolley in Atlanta, Georgia. The two were married on March 11, 1950 and had three children, Tony, Patsy and Sanford.Ms. Etris worked in the home while her children were young, after which she was employed by Globe Master and then Kmart. Ms. Etris (also known as “Momall” to her grandchildren) left many happy memories to all those who knew her as a “mother to all.”Momall loved to cook elaborate Sunday dinners for her kids, her many grandchildren and all their friends. Sunday dinner covered every square inch of counter and table space in the kitchen. From fired okra to fried chicken, her southern cooking could not be beat and there was always plenty of leftovers for everyone to take home. Momall found true joy in life from serving others and her family, taking little thought for herself. No matter how big her family grew, she always managed to make each and every family member feel special with their favorite home cooked meal and favorite birthday cake. Aside from birthdays, Momall made every holiday special. Each year on Christmas, the entire family would arrive to presents stacked from the floor to the ceiling. She spent countless hours all year long shopping and wrapping Christmas gifts for each individual. Momall worked all year, rarely buying little for herself so that she could provide a magical Christmas for the family.Through her loving example, she taught the importance of selfless service. Being the giving person that she was, Momall opened her home to anyone in need of a place to stay, animals and humans alike. If anyone was ever in need, they knew they could go to Momall day or night and she would be there for the rescue. Momall lived an amazing life, blessing the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Momall was like a security for the entire Etris family. With her passing, a piece of us will always be missing, but the sorrow is eased by the many wonderful memories we have. Momall was the best mother and grandmother a person could have. We are all better people because we knew her and were loved by her.The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Hazel Picklesimer Etris will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Tom M.
